| So we're walking from the rec to Morgan, and a car slows down to let us walk across. At first, I'm thinking, that's nice of them. Then, someone in the car yells, "Hurry up, ching chong etc etc." Now, in the past, I was either too naive to know to be offended or too passive to want to confront them. I would let it just roll off my back. However, this comment, this time, really affected me. I slowed down even more and stood in front of the car for an instant. I was thinking about what to do. Flicking them off wouldn't have served any useful purpose. To be honest, I slightly wanted to pick a fight with them. There were five of them in the car, guys and girls. I don't think anyone in the group I was with would've backed me up, but that's OK. And I know that if I did start a fight in any similar situation, I would probably get beat up pretty badly, but you can't let people degrade you and walk all over you. Is that prideful? I don't know. But I'm not the one to get trampled on and be taken advantage of anymore. Anyways, it got me really riled up and angry. Am I out of control or are these feelings appropriate? Also, along the way, I thought of a comeback to a racial slur like "ching chong etc etc". You can say, "Hey, actually, you know what? What you just said actually does mean something in Chinese/Korean/Japanese/Vietnamese. It means you're a fuckin dumbass!!!" HAHAHA! Isn't that good? I dunno. Anyways...goodnight! |
